PART I : In the quadrant of the Cylon Outer Capital... The Battlestar Pegasus shudders violently, sustaining massive damage during the fiery battle. She is surrounded by over fifteen Cylon Basestars, and both landing bays are completely destroyed and in flames. All fifteen Basestars continuously open fire on the Battlestar Pegasus with their mega-pulsars, solenite missiles, and over four-thousand Cylon Raiders swarm around the dying Battlestar Pegasus. On the bridge... fiery blazes roar throughout the bridge, and the air is filled with smoke. Commander Cain clutches the railing of the elevated command platform. The doomed Battlestar Pegasus shudders violently, suffering multiple direct hits from the mega-pulsars. Another incoming solenite missile detonates off the starboard bow, and one of the support pillars of the landing bay begins to break apart. The Beta landing bay begins to break apart, and starts to separate from the massive superstructure of the Colonial Battlestar. On the bridge... "Commander Cain, we lost 29% of our Vipers, and the rest are rapidly being destroyed! It's a hundred Vipers against over four-thousand Raiders!" Colonel Tolan screams at the top of his lungs as the command console in front of him explodes into burning sparks and flame. Commander Cain clutches the command railing as the Battlestar continues to shudder violently and uncontrollably. "Recall all Vipers! Inform all pilots to attach to the central hull with magnetic lines!" Commander Cain yells. Another explosion detonates on the bridge, instantly killing two valiant Bridge Officers. Within centons, the surviving Vipers of Silver Spar, Gold Spar, Platinum Spar, and Bronze Spar squadrons retreat from the devastating battle, and land on the top of the Battlestar Pegasus, attaching magnetic cables to the outer hull. The Vipers begin to securely dock on the outside superstructure of the Pegasus. Nearly a dozen are instantly destroyed by the thousands of Raiders swarming around the doomed Battlestar. Commander Cain gazes out the main viewer, watching as nearly twenty Basestars continue to decimate his Battlestar. He watches as Lieutenant Shul, in the highly advanced C.O.R.A. Viper launches a series of Hellfire missiles at one of the capital Basestars blocking the Pegasus. "Colonel Tolan, plot a direct course for the capital Basestar! We have completely exhausted our supply of solenite missiles, so prepare to ram the command core! The Basestar should break apart from the impact, and it will forge a clear path for us to escape!" Within microns, the Battlestar Pegasus accelerates forward on a course for the command core of the capital Basestar blocking their path. Commander Cain reaches down, and lifts up the communications microphone. "All hands brace for impact!" Cain screams. The devastated Pegasus surges forward, and her solium hyperdrives ignite with power. "Impact in five microns!" Colonel Tolan screams as the Pegasus streaks forward. "Four... Three... Two... One... Impact!" The forward pod of the Colonial Battlestar slams into the capital Cylon Basestar, scoring a direct hit on the command core. The Pegasus rips into the capital Basestar. The forward pod of the Battlestar Pegasus buckles from the impact, and the electronic defense shields are instantly reduced to zero power from the massive impact. The command core of the capital Basestar detonates, and the two discs separate. The Battlestar Pegasus rips through the Basestar, and accelerates forward at full thrust. Cain watches as the two discs spin out of control, and pearly white explosions begin to dance across the outer hull of the destroyed Basestar. Within microns, the capital Basestar detonates in a fiery explosion, vanishing into the cosmos...
PART II : Commander Cain watches as the command Basestar detonates into a blinding explosion, thus clearing the path for the Battlestar Pegasus to escape. "Colonel Tolan, inform Lieutenant Shul to magnetically attach the C.O.R.A. Viper to the outer hull along with our four squadrons, and prepare for the jump to light speed!" Within microns, Lieutenant Shul docks on the outside of the Pegasus, and the massive Colonial Battlestar jumps to light speed amid a fiery torrent of mega-pulsar blasts from the Fleet of eighteen-odd Cylon Basestars. The Cylon Outer Capital planet disappears behind them as they jump to light speed. The white stars race towards them as the Colonial Battlestar races forward at top speed. Within microns, all eighteen-odd Cylon Basestars also jump to light speed in close pursuit of the fleeing Battlestar. As the stars fly past at incredible speed, Commander Cain watches the stars racing towards him from the main viewer. He can see powerful blue blasts of laser energy shooting past him and vanishing into the stars ahead of the Pegasus. All Basestars in the pursuing Fleet were obviously opening fire on him, even at light speed, and the Pegasus shudders again from several direct hits. The Beta landing deck, dangling by only two support pylons, continues to break apart. The electronic defense shields were recharged to 10% power by diverting most Battlestar power to the shields, therefore protecting the hundred-odd surviving Vipers including Lieutenant Shul's C.O.R.A. advanced probe. The Battlestar itself was unprotected, just the outer hull where the Vipers were magnetically attached was being protected at this time. The Beta landing deck continues to break apart, and a second pylon detonates from a direct hit and the devastated landing bay is now attached by only one support pylon. "Colonel Tolan, divert all power to the solium hyperdrive! I want it at 110% capacity!" Commander Cain screams among the fiery blazes on the bridge. "Yes, Commander!" Colonel Tolan shouts. As the solium hyperdrive is set to 110% capacity, the fleeing Battlestar begins to slowly outrun the pursuing Fleet of over fifteen Cylon Basestars. Colonel Tolan glances down at the last remaining bridge command console on the elevated command platform. "Sir, we are at 110% capacity, but the solium hyperdrive is on fire! It will detonate in ten centons at this speed!" Colonel Tolan yells. Commander Cain releases his grasp from the command railing, and approaches Colonel Tolan's side. "We have no choice but to continue forward at this speed! We will be destroyed if we reduce power to the solium hyperdrive!" Commander Cain yells. The eighteen-odd Cylon Basestars fall further and further back as the Battlestar Pegasus races forward at a deadly rate of speed. The Beta landing deck continues to rip apart during the full acceleration. "Eight centons until detonation, Commander!" Tolan yells. The Pegasus continues to move forward at incredible speed, slowly outrunning the pursuing Cylon Battlefleet. Fires rage on the inside and outside of the dying Battlestar, and flames roar throughout the main reactor of the solium hyperdrive. Commander Cain gazes out the star viewer, watching as the stars race towards him at dazzling speed. "Colonel Tolan, shift course to the epsilon sector!" Cain yells. "Lead the Cylon Battlefleet as far away as we can from the Battlestar Galactica and the Colonial Fleet! There is no hope of us returning to the Fleet! I want the Cylon Basestars lead thousands of hectares away from the Fleet!" Commander Cain yells. Within microns, the Battlestar Pegasus tilts to the port side, on a direct course leading in the opposite direction of the Colonial Fleet, which was presently one quadrant away. The Pegasus continues to race forward at a 10% above light speed, with eighteen-odd Cylon Basestars in hot pursuit...
PART III : The fleeing Battlestar Pegasus races towards the epsilon sector, with eighteen-odd Cylon Basestars in hot pursuit. There was now no chance of the Pegasus returning to the Fleet. In fact, she would be lucky if she were to survive at all. Fires continue to burn on all decks of the Battlestar Pegasus. Both landing bays are completely destroyed and on fire, and the Beta bay continues to rip and break apart from the doomed Battlestar. The Pegasus races forward at 10% above light speed, but her solium hyperdrive is on fire and critically damaged. It would detonate in six centons. Suddenly, a specially-designed alert klaxon pierces the air, a klaxon that had not sounded in yahrens. Colonel Tolan stares down at the command console. "My God, Commander. The life support system has just been destroyed. We have lost life support on alpha, beta, gamma, and delta sections. All decks, except for the bridge are without life support!" Tolan yells above the roaring fires on the bridge. Commander Cain's face pales as the special alert klaxon continues to pierce the air. "Put me on Unicom," Commander Cain orders, approaching the devastated communications sector. He picks up the comm microphone and prepares to speak. "All crewmembers, don your emergency spacesuits and proceed to the escape pods and shuttles!" Commander Cain takes a deep breath before speaking his next words. "All hands abandon ship!" Cain yells. Throughout the Battlestar the eight-hundred surviving crewmembers don their emergency spacesuits, and proceed down the hallways towards the escape pods. Most men and women were trained Colonial Warriors, so they did not panic. They calmly don their spacesuits and environmental gear, and proceed towards the escape pods awaiting launch orders. Commander Cain speaks into the microphone as the hundreds of crewmembers enter the escape pods and prepare to launch. "All hands will abandon the Battlestar Pegasus, except for the bridge command crew. The bridge has been sealed, and we will deal with the pursuing Basestars. Once launched, all escape pods will rendezvous outside of the epsilon sector. The Pegasus will jam the Basestars from detecting the escape pods. All Vipers will separate from the Battlestar Pegasus, and escort the escape pods into deep space. You will set a direct course for the Colonial Fleet. We succeeded in attaining enough fuel from the Cylon Outer Capital for the Battlestar Galactica and Fleet to get through the next four quadrants! All fuel transports will launch with the escape shuttles!" "Lieutenant Sheba, you will lead the hundred surviving Vipers, escape shuttles, and fuel transports back to the Fleet. May the Lords of Kobol be with all of you!" Cain speaks with deep respect for his crew. "Now all hands abandon ship!" Commander Cain orders. Within microns, hundreds upon hundreds of escape pods launch from the Battlestar Pegasus as she races forward at the deadly rate of 10% above light speed. All hundred-odd surviving Vipers also retract their magnetic lines, and separate from the Pegasus. The Vipers, escape pods, and fuel transports accelerate forward to the outside of epsilon quadrant, and set a direct course for the distant Battlestar Galactica. "Colonel Tolan, activate the jamming equipment!" Cain yells. The jamming transmitters are quickly activated, preventing the pursuing Cylon Battlefleet from detecting the fleeing escape shuttles and Vipers. Aboard the lead Viper... "All Vipers, the Pegasus has activated her jamming equipment! Engage turbos!" Lieutenant Sheba orders. The fleeing Vipers race forward, escorting the escape shuttles and fuel transports towards the Battlestar Galactica and Colonial Fleet. On the nearly abandoned Battlestar Pegasus... Commander Cain, Colonel Tolan, and a half-dozen Bridge Officers are all that remain...
PART IV : The Battlestar Pegasus blasts forward at 10% above light speed, just barely outrunning the pursuing Cylon Battlefleet of eighteen-odd Cylon Basestars. All hands had abandoned ship, with the exception of Commander Cain, Colonel Tolan, and a half-dozen surviving Bridge Officers. The men and women group together as Commander Cain prepares to speak. "We have over fifteen Cylon Basestars pursuing us, the solium hyperdrive will explode in four centons, and all hands have abandoned ship. With any luck, the survivors of the Battlestar Pegasus will make it back to the Colonial Fleet alive. We have attained enough fuel from the Cylon Outer Capital for the Galactica and Fleet to make it through the next four quadrants. They should succeed in escaping the Cylon Empire without detection," Commander Cain speaks. "The Battlestar Pegasus, however, is doomed. We will make our last stand against the Cylon Empire in the epsilon quadrant!" Commander Cain shouts. "Now, man your stations!" The emotions of the half-dozen Bridge Officers had risen, and they silently take their positions at the few remaining bridge command consoles. Commander Cain strides up the steps of the elevated command platform, and stands next to Colonel Tolan. Commander Cain gazes out the star viewer, watching as the long, white stars race towards him at dazzling speed. "Colonel Tolan, prepare all remaining mega-pulsars and automated laser turrets for point blank fire!" Cain orders. Suddenly, a loud explosion detonates in the engine bay of the Battlestar Pegasus. The solium hyperdrive bursts into flame, and walls of fire rip across the engine bay. The Pegasus immediately drops out of light speed, and the long, white stars come to a stop. Within moments, the eighteen Cylon Basestars accelerate into range behind the Battlestar Pegasus, and open fire with a deadly torrent of mega-pulsar blasts. The doomed Battlestar immediately opens fire, and powerful orange streaks of laser energy flare out from the Pegasus, and slam into the incoming Basestars. Within moments, however, the Battlestar Pegasus is completely surrounded. "Open fire with all weapons!" Commander Cain screams as a series of explosions detonate on the bridge. Even more fires begin to rage throughout the Pegasus, and the blazes are completely out of control. All decks within the Pegasus are now on fire as the Pegasus slows to a complete halt. The outer hull of the Pegasus is decimated and begins to rip apart in the torrent of incoming laser fire. Monumental explosions detonate outside of the dying Battlestar, as fires tear through the internal compartments and corridors. Both landing bays are completely destroyed and fire rages within the wrecked bays. Although the Pegasus fights violently, her mega-pulsars and laser turrets are quickly destroyed and silenced. Suddenly, the incoming rain of fire comes to a complete stop. All Cylon Basestars cease fire. "What's going on, Commander?" Tolan asks above the fire and smoke on the bridge. The Battlestar continues to twist and rock violently from the deadly damage that she had sustained. Cain clutches the command railing as the Battlestar shudders. Commander Cain glares out the star viewer with burning eyes as he watches thousands upon thousands of Raiders pouring out of the Cylon Battlefleet surrounding him. The Raiders take up position outside of the Pegasus, and begin to swarm around it. Cain watches with glimmering eyes as a Presidential Shuttle launches from the Cylon Basestar Flagship and begins to approach his doomed Battlestar. Dozens of assault transports quickly launch, and follow the Presidential Shuttle towards the Battlestar Pegasus. Cain looks over at Tolan. "Prepare the Battlestar Pegasus for self-destruction!"
PART V : Colonel Tolan looks up at Commander Cain in shock as the Cylon Presidential Shuttle and Cylon Assault Transports race towards the Battlestar Pegasus laying dead in space. "What?" Tolan asks in surprise. "I said prepare the Battlestar Pegasus for self-destruction!" Commander Cain yells above the flame and smoke on the bridge of the doomed Battlestar. "Yes, Sir," Colonel Tolan breathes. He activates the computer command center, and inputs the command codes for self-destruction. Commander Cain rests his hand on a palm reader, confirming the codes for Battlestar self-destruction. A computerized voice sounds on the bridge, but remains silent on the other decks of the Battlestar. "The Battlestar Pegasus will self-destruct in five centons..." the computerized voice reports. Meanwhile, the dozens of assault transports begin to attach themselves to the Battlestar Pegasus, landing on the outer hull. Cylon Centurions exit the shuttles with magnetic boots, and begin cutting holes within the hull. Commander Cain watches the bridge scanners as the Cylons begin to penetrate the ship. He listens to the overhead computerized voice. "The Battlestar Pegasus will self-destruct in four centons..." the voice reports. "Colonel Tolan, purge the Colonial Databank and dump the central computer core. I want all records destroyed!" Cain shouts. Colonel Tolan nods, and begins the procedure to purge the database. Within microns, the computer memory banks are erased, including the coordinates of the Battlestar Galactica and Fleet, all tactical data, and all records aboard the computer are destroyed. More shuttles continue to land aboard the Battlestar as fires rage within and Cylon Centurions begin to penetrate the Battlestar. The Centurions proceed deeper within the Battlestar, and soon nearly a hundred Centurions are aboard the Pegasus, moving deeper inside the dying Battlestar. The Cylons, however, are unaware that the Battlestar Pegasus is about to self-destruct. They move deeper within the Battlestar and approach the bridge. "The Battlestar Pegasus will self-destruct in three centons..." the computerized voice speaks in the bridge. Commander Cain hears a "thump" at the main entrance door of the bridge, and turns to face the door. Suddenly the door explodes, and dozens of Centurions storm into the bridge. The Cylons open fire, instantly killing the half-dozen surviving Bridge Officers. Their corpses fall to the floor, their Colonial Command uniforms blazing. Commander Cain draws his sidearm and opens fire. Colonel Tolan also raises his blaster and opens fire on the incoming Cylons. "The Battlestar Pegasus will self-destruct in two centons..." the computer reports. Suddenly, a tall figure enters the bridge. The figure was large and reptilian in nature. Cain's eyes widen in surprise. "The Imperious Leader!" Cain breathes. He aims his blaster and prepares to fire, but a Centurion scores a direct hit on Cain's blaster, and it explodes in his hand. Cain screams in agony as the Cylons surround him. The Cylons fire at Tolan, who falls to the floor. The Cylons drag Cain to the floor, and clasp binders to his wrists. Commander Cain screams in pain. "Well, if it isn't the legendary Commander Cain," the Imperious Leader speaks. A dozen Cylon technicians enter the bridge, and approach the command console of the Pegasus. "The Battlestar Pegasus will self-destruct in one centon..." the computer speaks. The Cylons begin attaching equipment to the Pegasus computer core as the final self-destruct countdown begins. Within moments, the Cylons succeed in penetrating the Colonial command computer aboard the Pegasus. With only twenty microns to go, the computer speaks overhead. "The Battlestar Pegasus self-destruct sequence has been aborted..."
PART VI : The Cylon Centurions that had stormed the Battlestar Pegasus drag Commander Cain to his feet. The computerized voice confirms overhead. "The Battlestar Pegasus self-destruct sequence has been aborted..." the computer speaks again. The lizard-like Imperious Leader turns to face Commander Cain. Cain's eyes burn with rage as the Cylon Centurions hold him back. There were now nearly two-dozen Cylon Centurions on the bridge, and several hundred of them aboard other sections of the Battlestar Pegasus. The Cylons begin to extinguish some of the fires within the dying Battlestar, slowly but surely. The Imperious Leader smiles at Commander Cain. "We will have saved your Battlestar from destruction, Commander Cain," the Imperious Leader speaks. "My fellow Centurions will succeed in extinguishing the blazes within your Battlestar, Commander. Your ship is no longer doomed." Commander Cain's eyes burn with rage as he stares at the Imperious Leader in silence. Colonel Tolan begins to stir and moan on the floor. The Imperious Leader's smile fades, and he stares Commander Cain dead in the eye. "Commander Cain, you are under arrest for crimes against the Cylon Empire. You will be imprisoned, tortured, and... Executed..." the Imperious Leader smiles. "Furthermore, the Battlestar Pegasus will be taken into Cylon custody, and will be thoroughly analyzed, then refit to serve the Empire. With the Pegasus we will hunt down and destroy Commander Adama, the Battlestar Galactica, and the Colonial Fleet. Mankind will be eradicated, and the Pegasus will serve the Empire from this point forward!" the Imperious Leader speaks in a powerful voice. Cain's eyes widen. "No! No!!!!!!!!!!!" Commander Cain screams. "Take him away!" the Imperious Leader speaks. Within moments, Commander Cain is dragged kicking and screaming from the bridge. "NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" Cain screams as he is dragged away. The Imperious Leader smiles, and stands on the elevated command platform of the Battlestar Pegasus. Several hundred Cylon Centurions are now aboard the Battlestar Pegasus, slowly but surely extinguishing the fires with advanced Cylon firefighting equipment. Over four-thousand Cylon Raiders swarm outside the Battlestar Pegasus as explosions continue to detonate on the outer hull. The outer hull of the Pegasus is decimated, ripped up, torn, and burned outside the massive superstructure. Both landing bays were completely destroyed and burning in flame, and the Beta deck was secured to the superstructure by only one surviving support pylon. The Imperious Leader turns, and leaves the bridge of the now Cylon-controlled Battlestar Pegasus. "Take me back to my Basestar, and set a course for the Cylon Outer Capital. Lock tractor beams on the Pegasus, and take her back with us for re-fitting for service to the Empire!" the Imperious Leader orders. Within centons, the Presidential Shuttle blasts off and returns to the capital Basestar. The Cylon armada of over fifteen Basestars escorts the Pegasus back to the Cylon Outer Capital, and they soon dock at a massive space station. Commander Cain is locked up in a prison aboard one of the Basestars, and is soon transferred to the Cylon Capital for judgment.
Two days later, aboard the Battlestar Galactica... The intercom sounds within Commander Adama's quarters, and Lieutenant Sheba enters after receiving permission from Adama. "Commander, you have enough fuel to take the Fleet anywhere in the stars. I now request permission to launch a special task force to infiltrate the Cylon Capital. I have reason to believe that my Father is still alive, and that the Battlestar Pegasus survives."
THE END... FOR NOW...
